Hormones are not always used in poultry production, so there is no problem.
When I rid of my sheep to graze on organic, I tried many different kinds of eggs Eggland store including the best and I could not tell the difference between organic and non-EB-cage eggs. Everyone enjoyed the same, they all pale yellow. So I began my eggs from hens raised from local sources in their pastures. I pay $ 3.50 per dozen eggs, but far superior to what you're in a supermarket chain.
Cage free does not mean that birds. This simply means they housed in large stables. Much better than filled with 4 to 6 in a cage, but not as good as the pasture.
